Two more Mangino forgeries reported

Two more forgeries of Kansas University head football coach Mark Mangino’s checks were reported to police Tuesday.

According to Lawrence police reports released Wednesday, Mangino’s wife, Mary, told officers that checks of $73.32 and $44.55 were forged between March 31 and Tuesday at a Kwik Shop, 845 Miss., and a Dillons, 4701 W. Sixth St.

On Tuesday, police released reports that said three of Mangino’s checks were written at Dillons stores in Lawrence on March 31 and April 1.

Police said the checks were taken during a March 30 vehicle burglary when Mangino’s vehicle was outside a Lawrence restaurant.

Tyrone Leroy Alexander, 33, Lawrence, and Gary Lynn Smart, 55, Lawrence, were arrested April 1 and charged in connection with several recent burglaries, including the one of Mangino’s vehicle.

The men face several charges related to auto burglaries, but no charges have been filed related to the alleged check forgeries.
