Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for April 8, 1907: “We hear that more than 2,000 people tried to get into the Christian Church tabernacle here last night and that many had to be turned away or left outside. The revival has been one of the biggest events of its kind ever staged here and so far about 100 seem to have become ‘witnesses’ and converts. : Sam and John Hill, brothers, got into a Sunday row southwest of town and Sam threatened to shoot his brother and a friend, Arthur Simpson, who got mixed in. Some days ago, Sam had accused his brother of stealing chickens and the bad feelings continued to build. The gun was taken away before any harm occurred but it was heated event.”
