Jayhawks’ Manning triple-jump champ

? Despite rainy conditions, Kansas University’s Crystal Manning captured the women’s triple-jump title at the Texas Relays on Saturday.

Manning cleared 41 feet, 103â4 inches and earned a regional qualifying mark in the event. Entering the weekend, Manning’s distance would have represented the fourth-longest jump in the Big 12 Conference.

Ashley Brown ran a career-best 13.55 seconds to take fourth in the women’s 100-meter hurdles and earn a regional qualifying mark. Julius Jiles also took fourth in the men’s hurdles event, and his preliminary time of 14.18 qualified him for regionals as well.

Pole vaulters Britany Parker, Jordan Scott and Kate Sultanova did not compete due to the inclement weather.

The men’s and women’s teams will head to Norman, Okla., for the Sooner Invitational on April 13-14.
