A two-vehicle accident south of 19th Street and Haskell sent three people to the hospital around 11:15 a.m. today.

Police said the driver of a southbound black Ford pickup truck drifted into the northbound lanes of Haskell, hitting a car head-on.

Both drivers and the passenger of the car were transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Witnesses said the truck was swerving several blocks before the crash.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, police said.

Well at first blush it appears the a truck that was swerving for several block before crossing the centerline and slamming head on into a passenger car "might" be the cause of the accident. Just a guess though.

But was it a cell phone or early morning alcoholism that caused the swerving? :)

I joke. I'm not claiming to know what happened. I do hope everyone is ok though.

I'd like a description of the car that was struck by the truck, if possible. I feel like we got only half the story here, even despite the breaking newsiness of it all.

But, it IS the LJW...

So why do you read it or visit the site if you think it sucks?

Because it is how I get news in Lawrence.

Fine, it is dispatch's fault. Sorry, LJW lovers. Sweet chocolate Jesus...

geeeeeeez! somebody(s) have their shoes on too tight!

the folks in uniform were fighting hard to save one or two lives, there were choppers, and all you guys can quibble about is what's released or what's in the story?

I'm hoping the most serious victim didn't end up at room temp. another was seriously hurt. praying for their recovery, not quibbling.

I don't fault the paucity of news when these things first happen. But I do wish they would EVER update them later in the day. I can't believe there is NEVER any further info this many hours later. Would it kill them to give an update so people would know how the victims are doing?
