¢Heitzman Age-Group Champ: Paul Heitzman of Eudora won the men’s ages 75-79 division of the Wish Lemons Run Saturday in Tulsa, Okla. Heitzman was second in the age-graded Masters compilation.

¢Walters JGC Champ: Drew Walters shot a 73 and won the Jayhawk Golf Club’s season-opening net tournament Sunday at Alvamar by three strokes over Mike Stein. Bob Cohen and Tom Taylor both carded 77s. Coming in at 78 were Jeff Miller, Randy Gebhards, Keith Wallace and Rich Anthony. Low gross went to Brent Mertz with a 76.

¢Marathon Standouts: Alex Rock and Jared McDonald, both of Lawrence, finished 15th and 28th respectively out of more than 800 runners at the Wirefly Marathon in Washington, D.C. Rock was clocked in 2:49 and McDonald in 2:58. Both qualified for the Boston Marathon.

¢Eagle Bend Leagues: Eagle Bend Golf Course’s senior men’s league will begin Monday, the men’s league on Tuesday and the women’s league on April 18. For information, call 748-0600.

¢Cotton Hole-in-One: Evelyn Cotton used an 8-iron to ace the 88-yard No. 3 hole Monday at Eagle Bend Golf Course. Hank Cotton was the witness.

¢LTC Meeting: A meeting for Lawrence Track Club parents will be at 7 p.m. today in the Lawrence High cafeteria. LTC offers summer track for youths ages 8-18. For information, go to www.lawrencetrackclub.org.
