Debate team has own Elite Eight finish

A Kansas University debate team fared about as well as the KU men’s basketball team this year in its own national competition.

The KU debate duo of Brett Bricker, Wichita junior, and Andrew Jennings, Silver Lake junior, made it to the “Elite Eight” of the National Debate Tournament this past weekend in Dallas.

They lost to a team from Emory University that went on to win the tournament.

Another KU team, made up of Lindsey Lathrop, Overland Park senior, and Nate Johnson, Manhattan senior, made it to the tournament’s “Sweet 16” before losing to a Wayne State University team that made it to the Final Four.

KU was the only school to have two teams make it to the Sweet 16.
