The Lawrence City Commission authorized $500,000 in industrial revenue bonds to acquire land and to build and equip a building for the Lawrence Paper Co. in the Santa Fe Industrial Tract northwest of the city.

Possible development of Clinton Parkway, an extension of 23rd Street west, was again a topic for city, county, chamber commerce and school officials. A common design standard was being sought so good planning could result.

L. Arden Almquist, executive secretary of World Missions of the Evangelical Covenant Church of America, was to be the June 4 baccalaureate speaker at Kansas University. He was a KU alumnus.

U.S. Rep. Bob Dole, R-Kan., 3rd District, in a local speech called the current Congress (1967) “a go-slow body not likely to accomplish much.”
