Old Home Town – 25 years ago

Citing the progress of the Lawrence community over the past 25 years, law professor Martin Dickinson took over the presidency of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce. He pledged to work for the “expansion and enrichment of Lawrence’s business and industry.” About 1,000 attended the annual general membership dinner at the new $10 million Lawrence Holidome. George Catt, attorney-judge, was in charge of the banquet and called the “maiden voyage” of the Holidome “something few wanted to miss.” Dickinson succeeded Sherry Schaub of Quaker Oats in the LCC presidential role.
