Army Reserve Pvt. Seth Schaffer has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, Schaffer studied the Army mission, history, tradition, core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises. He is the son of John Schaffer, Tonganoxie, and Beth Holler, Geronimo, Independence, Mo.

Army Reserve Pvt. Adrian Tubbs has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

Tubbs is the son of Andy Tubbs and Angie Morgan, Lawrence.
