Library sale to feature thousands of books

More than 250,000 items will be offered during the annual Friends of the Lawrence Public Library Fall Book Sale.

The sale will be in a tent at Seventh and Kentucky streets outside the library, 707 Vt., where Janet Mody, above, shelved books Wednesday for the event.

The sale supports the summer reading program, author visits, material purchases and Internet access at the library. Since 2000, the sales have raised more than $400,000.

The sale begins today with a Friends of the Library members-only night from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Other sale dates are:

¢ 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

¢ 2 p.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, half-price day.

¢ 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday, $7 bag night.

¢ 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Oct. 5, $5 bag night.

¢ 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 7 and 2 p.m.-6 p.m. Oct. 8, giveaway days.
