Old Home Town – 25 years ago

An anti-Khomeini Iranian student group at Kansas University was ordered to pay for damages to the Kansas Union that occurred during a fight with Khomeini supporters on Sept. 12. Failure to pay would force surrender of the group’s registered status at KU, knocking it out of official standing and the ability to use campus facilities.

The city-county planning commission unanimously accepted a comprehensive downtown plan after two hours of public discussion. The plan, prepared by Robert Teska and Associates, Evanston, Ill., was to be forwarded to the Lawrence City Commission.
