Last week’s results: Baldwin beat Prairie View, 35-0; Ottawa lost to Spring Hill, 53-14

Last year’s meeting: Baldwin won, 55-27

Quick Hits: Chase Abel rushed for two touchdowns in last week’s win as the Bulldogs scored four touchdowns on the ground. Blake Wieden is a dual-threat quarterback and showed it last week, throwing for a touchdown and also rushing for a score. The Ottawa defense has struggled this season. The Cylones have been outscored 177-23.

Prairie View (1-2) at Eudora (3-0)

Last week’s results: Prairie View lost to Baldwin, 35-0; Eudora beat Wellsville, 71-19

Last year’s meeting: Eudora won, 36-6

Quick Hits: The Cardinals have done it nearly all on the ground to saty unbeaten, thanks to an array of running backs. Last week Eudora rushed for more than 400 yards in its blowout victory. The Eudora offense is one of the best in the area, averaging 49 points per game.

Perry-Lecompton (3-0) at Santa Fe Trail (3-0)

Last week’s results: Perry-Lecompton beat Basehor-Linwood, 29-0; Santa Fe Trail beat Lansing, 27-26.

Last year’s meeting: Perry-Lecompton won, 28-27

Quick Hits: Perry-Lecompton has chalked up another strong start thanks to a defense that’s allowed just 20 points in its first three games. The Chargers squeaked out a victory last week by scoring all 28 of their points in the second quarter.

De Soto (3-0) at Louisburg (3-0)

Last week’s results: De Soto beat Anderson County, 21-7; Louisburg beat Gardner-Edgerton, 41-14.

Last year’s meeting: Did not play.

Quick Hits: After blowing out Ottawa, 60-19, in the opening week of the season, the De Soto offense has trailed off in its next two victories, scoring just 39 points. Quarterback Jake Morse threw a 13-yard touchdown pass last week to Jerod Bader to showcase an aerial option to its offense.

Oskaloosa (2-1) at Pleasant Ridge (2-1)

Last week’s results: Oskoloosa lost to Jackson Heights, 38-20; Pleasant Ridge lost to Troy, 34-13.

Last year’s meeting: Did not play

Quick Hits: Prior to last week’s game, the resurgent Bears allowed just six points total in their first two games. Each team will be looking to rebound from its first loss.

Valley Falls (0-3) at McLouth (2-1)

Last week’s results: Valley Falls lost to Jefferson North, 35-0; McLouth beat Wathena, 29-13

Last year’s meeting: McLouth won, 18-10

Quick Hits: The Bulldogs edged Valley Falls last season and will look for a repeat performance this year. McLouth must improve on defense, where it is allowing an average of 25 ppg this season.

Spring Hill (1-2) at Wellsville (0-3)

Last week’s results: Spring Hill beat Ottawa, 53-14; Wellsville lost to Eudora, 71-19

Last year’s meeting: Did not play

Quick Hits: Wellsville has had trouble scoring this season, averaging just nine points per contest. The defense has not been much better, allowing more than 51 ppg.

Wichita Trinity at Veritas (0-3)

Last week’s results: Wichita Trinity lost to Goessel, 58-19; Veritas lost to St. Joseph (Mo.) Christian, 32-6.

Last year’s meeting: Veritas won, 46-29

Quick Hits: Veritas scored for the first time all season last week, but the six points were not enough to get its first win of the season. The Eagles must make corrections defensively, where they have allowed 112 points in three games this season.
