Retirement community seeks OK

Bottom line

Plans for a 22-acre retirement community will be up for approval by city commissioners. The development, called the Fountains Retirement Center, would be at 24th Place between Crossgate and Inverness drives.

Background

The project originally was approved in 2004, but delays related to the project’s design prevented it from being built during its one-year approval period.

The project would be built in four phases between 2007 and 2014. The first phase would include 59 independent living units, a common facility, 26 assisted living units and 16 beds for dementia patients.

Other phases would include an additional 59 independent living units, 50 assisted living units, 17 two-unit villas and a skilled nursing facility.
