HARTFORD ? Seabury Academy’s volleyball team finished 2-3 in round-robin play Saturday at the five-team Hartford Invitational.

The Seahawks opened with a 25-20, 25-21 victory against Williamsburg, followed by a 14-25, 25-21, 25-16 win against Northern Heights.

However, Seabury lost its final three matches – to tourney champ Hartford, South Coffey County and Mission Valley – in straight sets.

“This is a good tournament for us because it kind of shows us what’s out there for 1A, 2A and small 3A public schools,” said Seabury coach Craig Friedrichsen.

Senior Molly Thurman had 36 kills on the day for the Seahawks (9-6), while sophomore Melissa Burch had 30 kills and 12 aces.
