Kasi and Larry Brizuela Jr., Harker Heights, Texas, announce the birth of their son, Ty Jackson Brizuela, born Aug. 30, 2006, at Darnall Army Community Hospital in Fort Hood, Texas. Maternal grandmother is Linda Carol Wiseman, Baldwin. Paternal grandmother is Bertha Alice Gonzales, Mira Loma, Calif. Great-grandparents are Talitha Bailey, Baldwin; Chloe Ellen Swadley, Lawrence; and Socorro Gonzalez and Santos Gonzalez, both of Mira Loma, Calif.

Ashley Woolsey, Lawrence, received a dean’s scholarship from Baylor University, Waco, Texas, for the 2006-2007 academic year. She is a graduate of Bishop Seabury Academy.

The Torneden family reunion will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Kanwaka Township Hall, 776 U.S. Highway 40.

Dinner will be served at 12:30 p.m. Families are asked to bring a covered dish, table service and family memorabilia. Drinks will be provided. Copies of the updated Torneden family tree will be distributed to those who have ordered them.

Hosts will be the Jeanne Torneden family and the Raymond and Caroline Flory family.

Judy Warren, Lawrence, and a 1996 Bay American quarter horse gelding named I’m Truly Terrific placed in the top 10 in select trail at the Bayer Select World Championship Show, which was Aug. 29-Sept. 3 in Amarillo, Texas.

The show is an invitational event for amateur exhibitors who are age 50 and older. To qualify, exhibitors and their horses must have earned a certain number of points in shows approved by the American Quarter Horse Assn.

Mark and Gwendolyn Jacobs, Shawnee, announce the birth of their daughter, Saida Macbeth Jacobs, born Aug. 17, 2006, at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park. She has two brothers, Ethan Jacobs, 8, and Aidan Jacobs, 2.

Maternal grandparents are Judy Schrick, Lawrence, and Dennis Schrick, Winchester. Paternal grandparents are Ed and Sonja Jacobs, Lawrence. Great-grandmother is Reta Jacobs, Lawrence.
