Kansas University’s new chancellor, Gene Budig, was teaching a graduate seminar each week in addition to his other duties. Budig, 42, said he devoted about eight hours a week to presentations for “Perspectives on Higher Education Administration in the 1980s.” Budig also had taught classes while president of West Virginia University prior to taking the KU job.

The Lawrence school district agreed to pay Haskell Indian Junior College at least $200 more per high school football game to rent the 55-year-old Haskell Stadium. Officials said that despite the boost in rent, the arrangement was far less expensive than having the district build and maintain its own stadium.
