— Pope Benedict XVI said Tuesday that Islamic holy war was against God's nature and invited Muslims to join in a peaceful cultural dialogue.

In a speech at Regensburg University, Benedict made an unusual reference to jihad, or holy war - a concept used by today's Islamic extremists to justify suicide bombings and other attacks.

Benedict's address was about faith and reason, and how they cannot be separated and are essential for "that genuine dialogue of cultures and religions so urgently needed today."

"Violence is incompatible with the nature of God and the nature of the soul," the pope said, issuing an open invitation for dialogue among cultures.

Good luck with that.

Islam is a vile, retrograde religion that essentially sacrifices individualism for brain-washed morality. It is barely acceptable as a conduit of morality for semi-barbarians moving out of deserts into settled communities, but in no way is fit for modern, evolved societies.

Death to Islam.

Hypocricy out of control...

It's time for organized religion to fall the wayside and join the ranks of Greek and Roman gods/goddesses. Let's be rational animals and eliminate the jesus/yahweh/mohammed/abraham/virgin mary myths. It's time to evolve, seriously! Our planet and our future depends on it...

Why at this time is the Pope so much news? This was a topic of discussion the other day, and many in a group I was in felt the pope is being brought into public light, at this time, ONLY as a pre political move. With elections coming up, and many Hispanics ( in the us) being Catholic..that it is a pre-designed move . The Pope gets every one's attention, then begins his campaign of vote mongering. Who will the Catholic Church back..and how far will they be allowed to go and still keep the Non Profit status? It has already begun with the Archdiocese criticisms of Sebelious. IMHO.

The pope need tend his flocks spiritual needs and stay out of politics. Sebelious at least seems able to separate Church and State, Let Rome follow that lead.
