O.U.R.S. will celebrate its 25th anniversary during its annual picnic Sept. 22.

Oldsters United for Responsible Service was organized in 1981 by a small group of people who met weekly at the Lawrence Senior Center for dancing and socializing. Established as a nonprofit organization and supported by member donations, the club has provided financial and practical assistance to charities and other organizations.

The picnic will be from noon to 6 p.m. in Building 21 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds. The picnic will be a carry-in meal with O.U.R.S. providing the meat, coffee, tea and cake. Attendees should bring their own table service.

Current and former members are encouraged to attend. There will be space to share photos and articles.
