Free voter manuals available to public

Project Vote Smart, a nonpartisan research library, is offering for free its 2006 Voter Self-Defense manual, which provides information on candidates in Kansas seeking public office.

The 100-page report includes candidates’ voting records, campaign finance contributions and ratings from special interest groups. It also shows which candidates were willing to tell voters their positions on important issues.

To get the report, go to www.vote-smart.org or call (888) 868-3762. Project Vote Smart will pay the postage.

Project Vote Smart was founded by numerous national leaders, including former presidents Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford and former presidential nominees Barry Goldwater and George McGovern.
