Oakland – Dan Johnson hit a grand slam in his first official at-bat back from the minors, and the A’s plated nine runs in the first inning.

Angels 2, Tigers 1

Detroit – Kelvim Escobar gave up an unearned run, and Vladimir Guerrero homered. Guerrero tied the game with a shot over the left-field fence in the fourth inning, and Orlando Cabrera’s RBI single in the fifth put the Angels ahead. Escobar (10-12) allowed two hits and two walks in eight innings while striking out seven.

Rangers 5, Indians 2

Arlington, Texas – Kevin Millwood allowed two hits and struck out a season-high 10 in eight innings, and Mark Teixeira hit a three-run homer.

Devil Rays 7, Mariners 6

St. Petersburg, Fla.- Kevin Witt hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the eighth inning, leading Tampa Bay.
