Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Sept. 1, 1906: “Monday will be Labor Day and one of the biggest celebrations ever held here is being planned. A parade will start things off at 1:30 and there will be music, games, harness racing and all sorts of entertainment to cater to everyone. : The Missouri and Kansas Telephone Co. is stringing additional wires on its Lawrence-Lecompton-Topeka line and it is hoped the recent strike can be overcome and good service will return. Other trunk lines are going in, such as one to Clinton. Many depend heavily on telephone service being good. “
