From the Lawrence Daily World for Oct. 28, 1906: “There is some agitation on The Hill to cancel the coming KU-St. Louis football game, scheduled for St. Louis, because the KU team has so many injuries and cannot possibly make a reasonable showing. The KU injury list looks like a hospital report. : Is there a fire bug at work in Lawrence? Four barns have burned here in less than two weeks, and the chief of police says he may be on the trail of the miscreant who has been causing them. : The final marking of the Santa Fe Trail through Douglas County is now complete. The work has been undertaken by the D.A.R. and has been a difficult task. Funding has always been a problem for this important historical project.”
