Day of Prayer planned

A Lawrence interfaith group has scheduled its second annual Day of Prayer and Contemplation.

The event, organized by the Lawrence Community Interfaith Initiative, will be Nov. 5.

Participants are asked to pray on their own for “our friends and neighbors in need and crisis.” Then, they will gather at 3 p.m. in South Park for group prayer and discussion.

KU Jewish group plans dinner

More than 400 people are expected this year at the annual Rock Chalk Shabbat service and dinner at Kansas University.

The event, sponsored by the KU Hillel Jewish organization, will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. Services are at Woodruff Auditorium, with a free dinner of kosher brisket following in the Kansas Ballroom.
