Eudora slides into Class 4A semifinals

? Two years ago, the Eudora High volleyball team finished 2-1 during pool play at the Class 4A state tournament, and still failed to advance to the championship semifinals.

The volleyball gods apparently decided they owed the Cardinals a favor.

Despite a lackluster 1-2 showing Friday, Eudora survived a three-team tiebreaker to secure a berth in today’s 4A semifinals at the Bicentennial Center. The fourth-seeded Cardinals (38-7) will face third-seeded Topeka Hayden (39-4) at 10 a.m., while the second semifinal will feature top-seeded Towanda-Circle (42-1) against second-seeded Augusta (38-4), also at 10.

The two winners will meet in the championship match beginning 25 minutes after the conclusion of the last semifinal.
