Haskell reports slight drop in enrollment

Fall enrollment at Haskell Indian Nations University dipped by 29 students, the university reported this month.

The school enrolled 889 students for the semester, down slightly from 918 in fall 2005. The university had 906 students enrolled in spring 2006.

The declines may be the result of several factors, including changes in standards for admission and federal financial aid, and the lack of summer school, said Venida Chenault, vice president for academic affairs.

About 53 percent of the student body is men and 47 percent women. The average age of students is 23.
