3-year-old wanders away; father arrested

? A 3-year-old boy who disappeared from his uncle’s trailer in Tulsa County was found safe about two miles away and is now in state custody and his father was arrested after deputies found what they believe to be a methamphetamine lab in the trailer where the two were living.

The boy was reported missing by his father, James Rainer, 43, between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday, said Capt. John Bowman of the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office.

“We were told that the child was outside playing with his dog and then disappeared,” Bowman said.

Deputies, neighbors and a police helicopter searched for the boy, whose name was not released, and a neighbor found him more than two hours later playing with his dog about two miles away – where it appeared he had been playing in a pond.

“The child had been in water up to his waist,” Bowman said. “The neighbor found him, notified us and we reunited him with the father.”

Bowman said the child was then placed in Department of Human Services custody because deputies searching for him in the trailer found the apparent components of a methamphetamine lab, officials said.

The boy’s uncle, whose name was not released, had left the trailer and deputies were searching for him.

Bowman said the lab was not producing the drug at the time but that all of the necessary parts seemed to be present.

To make certain that the child had not been harmed by exposure to dangerous chemicals, he was taken by ambulance to a hospital, Bowman said.
