Country singer Keith Urban checks into rehab

Nashville, Tenn. – Keith Urban has checked himself into a rehabilitation treatment center for alcohol abuse, less than four months after the Grammy-winning country singer’s marriage to actress Nicole Kidman.

Urban released a statement Friday that said he entered rehab Thursday with his wife by his side.

Urban, who turns 39 on Thursday, has publicly acknowledged a former addiction to cocaine, but his publicist said Urban was currently being treated for alcohol abuse.

His new CD, “Love, Pain, & the whole crazy thing,” will be released Nov. 7 as scheduled, but he will postpone all upcoming promotional appearances.

Sara Evans’ husband: Singer was having affair

Nashville, Tenn. – The husband of country singer Sara Evans says she filed for divorce the day after he discovered she was having an affair.

Craig Schelske did not identify the other man in court documents filed Friday in Williamson County Chancery Court.

Evans’ publicist, Lori Genes, declined to comment.

In his answer to Evans’ petition for divorce filed last week, Schelske denies Evans’ allegations that he committed adultery, was verbally and emotionally abusive, drank excessively and frequently watched pornography in their home.

Schelske says he and Evans, 35, were watching pornography together when their oldest child, a 7-year-old daughter whom they believed to be asleep, entered their room unexpectedly.

He also denies her claims that he posed for nude photographs of himself as well as the existence of any sexual photographs of himself with other women, or that he had an affair with their former nanny. The nanny also has denied the allegation.

Anna Nicole Smith has no plans for paternity test

San Juan, Puerto Rico – An attorney for Anna Nicole Smith said Friday the reality TV star has no intention of submitting her 6-week-old daughter for paternity testing as demanded by an ex-boyfriend.

A lawsuit filed by photographer Larry Birkhead seeks a court order for Smith to bring the girl to California for a DNA test. A birth certificate lists her current companion, Howard K. Stern, as the father of Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern.

“Why should she accommodate him at all?” asked Bahamian attorney Wayne Munroe in an interview with The Associated Press. “I don’t think she’s going to run her life according to his wishes.”

An attorney for Birkhead, Debra Opri, said she is traveling to the Bahamas this weekend to take depositions from Smith and Stern on Monday.

“We’re going to get that paternity test,” Opri said in an interview from Los Angeles. “It may not be today, it may not be tomorrow, but I’m not going away.”

Etheridge, 45, and Michaels, 31, held a commitment ceremony in 2003.
