FCE and 4-H news

The October meeting of the Lone Star 4-H Club was called to order by acting President Leslie Queen on Oct. 9 at the Lone Star Church. Members answered roll call by naming their favorite Halloween costume. Christine Caffey led members in singing the MILK song. Cole Narcomey was initiated into the club.

Community leader Mary Berg thanked members for getting their record books in on time. She informed members that the county 4-H program was given a large sum of money for a new building at the fairgrounds.

Members were reminded to register for the Kansas Youth Leadership Forum on Nov. 17-19 at Rock Springs. Enrollment cards were given to members for re-enrollment for the 2006-07 4-H year.

New officers were encouraged to attend the county officer training. Families were asked to sign up for committees for next year, order new club T-shirts and RSVP for the county achievement celebration.

The club voted to have a catered meal for the November meeting and club achievement celebration. The 2006-07 officers were installed and members concluded the meeting with a 4-H quiz bowl game. Snacks were served by the Krumm and Mesler families.
