Transit consolidation meetings planned

Lawrence and Kansas University public transit leaders will be providing more information about efforts to either consolidate or better coordinate the two bus systems operating in the city.

Lawrence and KU leaders will host two meetings. The first will be from 5 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. Monday in the Tom Wilkerson Room of the Indoor Aquatic Center, 4706 Overland Drive. The second meeting will be from 4 p.m. to 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday in the Pine Room of the Kansas Union.

Consultants who are working on the report will be on hand to discuss the latest findings. The consultants are looking for ways to either merge the systems or make it easier for riders to use both systems. The study also will look at possible changes in routes that would be needed to make the two bus systems – the city-operated T system and KU on Wheels – more compatible.
