Lecompton to honor governors with signs

? The city of Lecompton today will dedicate new signs recognizing the nine territorial governors who held office here when Kansas was a territory.

The dedication will be at 10 a.m. at the Territorial Capitol Museum. The signs are installed on Douglas County Road 1029. They read: “Lecompton, Territorial Capitol of Kansas, Home to Nine Territorial Governors, 1855-1861.”

Attending the ceremony will be Kansas Department of Transportation Secretary Deb Miller, state Rep. Tom Sloan, R-Lawrence; state Sen. Marci Francisco, D-Lawrence; and Lecompton Mayor Roy Paslay.
