Local natural gas prices rose again as a result of boosts by Cities Service, the supplier for Kansas Public Service of Lawrence, the local gas distributor.

A new health sciences library at the Kansas University Medical Center was to be named in honor of Archie Dykes, immediate past chancellor at KU who was currently heading up a Topeka insurance firm.

Cristi Catt was named Lawrence High homecoming queen and was congratulated by Karen Blubaugh, the 1980 queen, at halftime of the Lawrence-Leavenworth football game. Lawrence won 34-12.
