Veritas faces little resistance

Eagles need just three quarters to finish off Wichita Word of Life

? The Veritas Christian football team earned its fourth victory in a row Friday night, cruising, 64-18, against Wichita Word of Life in a game shortened to three quarters by the mercy rule.

“(Word of Life) is a young team that is rebuilding,” Veritas coach Doug Bennett said. “Our guys just executed well.”

Veritas (4-3) executed perfectly in its passing game. Ben Balman completed all six of his passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns. Backup quarterback Josh Masrud completed all of three of his attempts for 99 yards and one touchdown.

On the ground, Balman ran six times for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Michael Kay ran seven times for 81 yards and two touchdowns.

Veritas will play host to St. Mary’s Academy on Friday.
