De Soto escapes; Eudora cruises
Baldwin ? De Soto High’s Shane Miller intercepted a pass deep in Baldwin territory and returned it for a 10-yard score with just a shade over two minutes remaining, allowing the Wildcats to overcome their own myriad miscues and seal a 22-13 victory Friday night in a key Class 4A district football matchup at Liston Stadium.
De Soto (4-3 overall, 1-0 district) fumbled three times, threw three interceptions and turned the ball over on downs three times. Still, the Wildcats held a 14-13 lead late and were driving for another score when they fumbled, giving Baldwin (3-4, 0-1) hope.
But the Bulldogs – who had four turnovers – gave the ball back on Miller’s interception.
Jake Morse threw two touchdown passes for De Soto, which will play host to Eudora on Friday.
Sam Beecher had a 70-yard scoring run, and Aaron Mills scored on a 61-yard TD pass from Blake Wieden for Baldwin, which will play host to Spring Hill Friday.
