Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Oct. 13, 1906: “Digging of potatoes is now an order of business in many local areas. : The university needs to pay increasing attention to fireproof vaults to keep safe the records of about 20,000 students who have attended the university in the past 40 years. These records are not now in secure places and are too valuable to be risked. . . . The KU band is trying to raise enough money to buy uniforms. It has $100 now and hopes to get another $200 by subscription. The bands at other college have uniforms and our boys want to keep up with the rest.”
