Reception planned for children’s authors

Three authors of books for children in fourth through 12th grades will be honored at a reception Monday in Oread Books.

The free event will run from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the bookstore, which is on the second level of the Kansas Union.

Attendees will include Randi Hacker, who wrote “Life As I Knew It,” a just-published first novel for young adult readers; Kate Morgenroth, whose work includes “Jude,” an Edgar Award finalist in 2005; and Andrea Warren, whose work includes “Orphan Train Rider: One Boy’s True Story.”

Hacker will appear again separately for a reading and signing Nov. 18 at the bookstore. Morgenroth and Warren will be featured at the one-day Literature Festival for area teachers and students hosted by The Writing Conference Inc. on Tuesday in the Kansas Union.
