The Douglas County Clerk’s Office was overflowing in election ballots Tuesday.

About 65,000 ballots to be used in the Nov. 7 general election were delivered, County Clerk Jamie Shew said. Shew and his staff were checking the ballots for misprints and sorting them, he said.

Though Douglas County had the state’s third-lowest voter turnout in the August primary, Shew said he thinks that will dramatically change in the general election.

During the last nonpresidential gubernatorial election, the county’s voter turnout was 57 percent, he said.

The last day to register to vote is Oct. 23. Advance voting begins Oct. 18 and ends at noon Nov. 6.
