Seven people were held at gunpoint Tuesday night inside an apartment at Meadowbrook Apartments, Bob Billings Parkway and Crestline Drive, police said.

About 7:20 p.m. two men knocked on the door of an apartment where the seven people were having a get-together, said Lawrence Police Sgt. Michael Monroe.

The men then forced their way in, one waving a handgun, and demanded that the people inside lay facedown and hand over any money, car keys or other belongings they may have had.

The two men – one described as wearing a dark shirt with the word “COPS” across it and the other a football jersey – then left and headed in an unknown direction.

Late Tuesday, police were conducting interviews and dusting the front door of the upstairs apartment for fingerprints.

The suspects remained at large Tuesday night.
