Four girls injured in rollover accident

Four girls were injured early Monday when a car flipped over into a ditch in rural Franklin County.

Around 7:30 a.m., a Kia Sephia driven by 15-year-old Nichole Saunders, Rantoul, flipped after she lost control on a curve along John Brown Road about 7 miles southwest of Ottawa, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department.

One of the passengers, Kasey Croan, 17, Lane, was ejected from the vehicle. An air ambulance took her in critical but stable condition to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.

The driver and two other passengers, 12-year-old Lisa Saunders, Rantoul, and 16-year-old Heidi Fortner, Lane, suffered injuries and were transported to Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa.

Cutler Township Fire Department and Franklin County Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
