The total number of students enrolled in Kansas Board of Regents schools in the fall of 1981 was down a bit, including a slight decline of 28 at Kansas University. But enrollment at all Big Eight Conference institutions had generally increased. Missouri led the way with a 500-student increase.

The forerunners of individual retirement accounts at local institutions were being studied carefully by people interested in tax-free investments in the various financial instruments available. They were called All Savers Certificates and were being issued at about a 12.5 percent interest rate at some institutions.
