KU falls to Missouri in volleyball

? Kansas University senior Jana Correa moved 16 kills closer to 1,000 Wednesday night, but the Kansas University volleyball team fell to No. 17 Missouri in three games, 30-19, 30-26, 30-18, at the Hearnes Center.

Correa, who has totaled 14 or more kills in 13 matches this season, is just 14 kills away from becoming the ninth Jayhawk in school history with 1,000 career kills.

Junior Emily Brown added 10 kills and a match-leading 17 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Senior Jamie Mathewson notched 12 digs, and red-shirt freshman Katie Martincich had 29 assists and added seven digs to round out the top KU performers.

With the loss, KU’s fourth straight, the Jayhawks dipped to 8-8 overall and 1-6 in Big 12 Conference play, while the Tigers moved to 12-4 and 6-1 and took a 1-0 lead in the 2006-07 Border Showdown.

KU travels Saturday to No. 25 Oklahoma.
