Board takes no action on seclusion rooms

The Kansas State Board of Education took no action after meeting to set a public hearing on seclusion rooms and restraint for children with disabilities.

Parents and disability rights groups have requested regulations on seclusion and restraint, where special education children are placed in small rooms or otherwise restrained with force when they act out.

The board met Monday via conference call to set the hearing date on restraint and seclusion regulations. The board set no new date to discuss the matter.
