Baldwin Bulldogs

Coach: Bob Martin, second season

2005-06 record: 17-6 overall, 8-4 Frontier League

2005-06 postseason: Lost to Iola in Class 4A sub-state finals

Coach Martin says: "We need to replace four starters from last year. We do return seven letterwinners, so replacing the starters might be a little easier than a normal situation. We will be on the small side, so rebounding and inside defense are something we need to focus on."

De Soto Wildcats

Coach Spencer says: "We have several players without a lot of varsity experience. If they can adjust to the varsity game to support our returning starters, we will be very competitive."

Eudora Cardinals

2005-06 postseason: Lost to Kansas City Sumner in Class 4A sub-state semifinals

Coach Luke says: "We are very young, playing a lot of juniors and sophomores. We lack size, but will hopefully make that up with speed and athleticism. We should be a tough team in February."

McLouth Bulldogs

Coach: Keith Miller, second season

2005-06 postseason: Lost to Effingham in Class 3A sub-state quarterfinals

Coach Miller says: "We have several seniors, juniors and sophomores that will be fighting for varsity spots. We will be very inexperienced at the varsity level, but this group worked extremely hard at summer camp and are very coachable."

Coach McCullough says: "We will be young and somewhat inexperienced even though several girls logged varsity time last season. We should have great team speed that will help us tremendously until the younger girls begin to mesh."

Coach Armstrong says: "Once again, we will be small and quick. If we can find a way to utilize this as a strength, we will be fine. We will be better offensively, but must play a more physical type of game."
