KU students announce art sale

Kansas University’s School of Fine Arts and the Departments of Art and Design will host the Annual Art & Design Holiday Sale this week, featuring the sale of more than 100 students’ works.

There will be an opening reception for the sale from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. The sale will continue from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Art & Design Building gallery on KU’s campus.

Assorted works will include ceramics, prints, sculptures, paintings, textiles and metal works.

“This event gives the general public, KU faculty and staff, and other students an opportunity to view and purchase works of art from different genres in one location,” said undergraduate Nicklaus Strecker, event organizer and ceramics club president.

A portion of the money raised by the sale of ceramics goes to the Ceramic Student Award. This award is for one student each year to further his or her knowledge of ceramics outside of the University. The remaining funds generated from the sale are used for student projects.
