Cowboys claim South Padre title

— Mario Boggan scored four of Oklahoma State's 11 overtime points as the Cowboys beat Missouri State, 73-70, Saturday in the championship of the South Padre Island Invitational.

Oklahoma State (7-0) went ahead for good 64-62 when Boggan, the tournament MVP, scored after grabbing a rebound with 4:04 left in overtime. He put the Cowboys up 70-67 on two free throws with 1:20 left.

Missouri State (4-1), which knocked off No. 7 Wisconsin in the semifinals Friday, tied the game with 1.98 seconds left in regulation on a drive by Nathan Bilyeu.

Boggan led the Cowboys with 14 points.

Tyler Chaney led Missouri State with 12 points, followed by Bilyeu, Blake Ahearn and Daven Mitchell with 11 each.

No. 11 Texas A&M 74, Idaho State 44

College Station, Texas - Josh Carter tied a school record with eight three-pointers and scored a season-high 26 points to lead the Aggies.

Acie Law added 22 points for Texas A&M (5-0).

Missouri 85, Stephen F. Austin 56

Columbia, Mo. - Stefhon Hannah scored 12 points and added nine assists and seven steals as the Tigers jumped out to quick runs to start each half.

Missouri (6-0) never trailed against the Lumberjacks.

Texas Tech 94, UTEP 77

El Paso, Texas - Bob Knight's 874th career win wasn't pretty but was decisive as the Red Raiders beat the Miners.

Martin Zeno and Jarrius Jackson combined for 59 points for Texas Tech (5-2).

Kansas State 68, Coppin State 57

Manhattan - Lance Harris scored a career high of 26 points for the Wildcats.

Cartier Martin added 13 points for Kansas State (4-1), becoming the school's first 1,000-point career scorer since Askia Jones passed that mark in the 1992-93 season.

Iowa State 90, Lake Superior State 61

Ames, Iowa - Mike Taylor scored 22 points and dished out seven assists - all in the first half - to lead the Cyclones.

Jessan Gray and Wesley Johnson added 14 points apiece for Iowa State (6-0).
