Lawrence officer loses charity boxing match

Lawrence Police officer Sutagee Anglin lost his charity boxing match Saturday night at a Kansas City, Kan., event.

Anglin competed in “Guns ‘N Hoses Fight Night” a boxing tournament at Memorial Hall that put police officers in the ring against firefighters. Participants were from Missouri and Kansas.

The event benefits S.A.F.E., an endowment fund for family members of Kansas City area officers who were killed in the line of duty, and youth boxing programs.

Saturday night’s event featured 18 bouts, and organizers expected to raise about $100,000 this year after raising about $90,000 last year, said Nancy Besa.

Anglin is a former college football player at Haskell Indian Nations University and Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo.
