Hae kyung Chung of Seoul, South Korea, has begun her first year at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass. She is a graduate of Bishop Seabury Academy. Her host mother is Mininder Kaur, Lawrence.

Chung is the daughter of Man jin Chung and Min hee Cho, Seoul, South Korea.

Quail Run School claimed the first place trophy in K-6 and the third place trophy in K-3 at the Wakarusa Valley School Chess Tournament on Nov. 11 in Lawrence. Cordley School’s McCarthy Fitch also won the first place individual trophy in K-3.

Dennis and Angie Miller, Eudora, announce the birth of a son, Carson Lawrence Miller, on Oct. 18, 2006, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Carson weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches long. He has a sister, Haley, 2.

Grandparents are Larry and Connie Woydziak and Mike and Kelly Chase, all of Lawrence. Great-grandparents are Betty Woydziak, Rose Hill; Marilyn and Larry Sage, Peculiar, Mo.; and Ray and Eileen Miller, Lexington, Mo.

Carson’s great-great-grandmother is Laverne Sage, Independence, Mo.

Students in the Lawrence Accredited Music Teachers Assn. will present a recital at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 N.H.
