Old Home Town – 25 years ago

The building that Penn House had occupied until recently was demolished, and two members of the advisory board vowed a new structure would rise at 1025 Pa. during an eight-hour building binge. It was to be orchestrated by a group of local workers and contractors such as Bob Moore and Bob Billings. A Saturday “fast break” construction job was already being planned to help the local relief unit. Several people who had wanted to move the old Penn House structure were concerned that historic sites were being destroyed here. Pragmatists said the old Penn House could not have been salvaged without inordinate cost.
