Longhorns survive Ragin Cajun scare

? Tiffany Jackson scored 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead No. 25 Texas to a 69-59 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette on Monday night.

Niqky Hughes added 15 points, and Erneisha Bailey grabbed 11 rebounds to help Texas improve to 2-0.

Onna Charles led the Ragin Cajuns (1-1) with 23 points.

Louisiana-Lafayette took its first lead when Whitney Dunlap’s jumper made it 25-23. Texas closed the first half on a 12-2 run during the final two minutes to take a 35-27 halftime lead.

Consecutive lay-ups by the Ragin Cajuns put them up 43-42 with just over 12 minutes left. But the Longhorns countered with three-pointers from Jackson and red-shirt senior Katrina Robinson to take a 48-43 lead. Soon after, Erika Arriaran hit two free throws in the midst of a 10-0 Texas run when Louisiana-Lafayette head coach J. Kelley Hall was whistled for a technical foul.
