Wichita-based Emprise Bank, which has two locations in Lawrence, this past weekend completed its acquisition of Prairie State Bank, adding 11 banking locations in Sedgwick and Butler counties.

Emprise now has 40 locations in Kansas, and has more than $1 billion in assets.

Bank officials announced that Emprise’s three locations in Augusta would be managed as a community bank, with its own president and lending authority, much like the two Emprise banks in Lawrence are managed.

Such a system allows customers to enjoy the “best of both worlds,” said Dave Adams, president for Emprise in Lawrence: the strength of a statewide network and the personal attention of a hometown bank.
