Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Nov. 7, 1906: “A number of livestock losses of late have been attributed either to bands of coyotes or even influence from wolves. Losses seem to have been heavy and costly for local farmers who are calling for an all-out hunting season. : After wrestling for more than two months with an epidemic of diphtheria, Lawrence is now practically free from it. No new cases have been reported since Oct. 30 and only eight quarantines, soon to be lifted, remain.”
